Where Does The NVQ Assessment Take Place?

All assessment for your Painting NVQs will take place while you work. This makes OSAT NVQs by far the most practical way for workers to gain the qualifications they need to get ahead. One of our fully qualified assessors will come out to your workplace and assess you on site.

What Is Required Before I Take The NVQ in Painting?

There are no formal requirements although we do strongly recommend that you are you fully competent in the areas covered by the units you will be sitting before you take the NVQ.

What Is Involved In The Painting NVQ?

There are a number of mandatory units and an optional unit in level 4 which you must pass satisfactorily.

Decorative Finishing & Industrial Painting NVQ Level 2 (Show All Units)

You will be assessed on your skills and competence in the following mandatory units:

  • Conforming to General Safety in the Workplace
  • Conforming to Efficient Working Practices in the Workplace
  • Moving and Handling Resources in the Workplace
  • Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
  • Preparing Surfaces for Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
  • Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller in the Workplace

You also have additional units which do not account for any credits in this qualification:

  • Hanging Standard Paper Wallcoverings in the Workplace
  • Hanging Wide-width Vinyls in the Workplace
  • Installing Coving, Centre-pieces and Texture Products in the Workplace
  • Applying Coatings by the Airless Spray Method in the Workplace
  • Applying Coatings by the Air Spray Method in the Workplace
  • Producing Broken Colour Work and Basic Stencilling in the Workplace
  • Producing and Applying Complex Stencil Designs in the Workplace

What If I Fail Units In The Painting NVQ?

If you fail units during your Painting NVQ you just have to be reassessed. You may also take extra units to make up the amount of credits you need to pass the NVQ.
